Partridge rides a 10 in 19:52 !
Nick Partridge of Velo Club Baracchi reached an exciting new milestone in the VTTA East Anglian Group 10-mile time trial by dipping for the first time under 20 minutes.
He was elated with his time, 19:52, was good enough for fourth place behind three other riders in the nineteen minutes bracket.
It was clearly a fast night on the A11 to the south of Newmarket and Partridge said he was over the moon with his ride.
Partridge cemented his success with second place in the North Norfolk Wheelers open 10 with 20:30.
This was on a slower course than the VTTA one and the fastest was Ben Stancombe of Team VeloVelocity in 20:03. Third behind Partridge by just one second was Matt Ratcliffe of the home club in 20:31.
The CC Breckland 30-mile time trial on the A11 attracted three VC Baracchi riders.
Paul Hayward achieved 1-09:53 for 13th place and Paul Dennington 1-12:27. John Swanbury ran down a pothole at 20 miles and disappointingly he had to pull up with a resulting completely flat tyre.
The event was won by Lloyd Chapman of Plomesgate CC in 59:45, just over 30mph. Stancombe took second with 1-00:07 and Harley Matthews of DAP CC was third in 1-00:44.
Richard Allen supported the Gt Yarmouth CC club 10 last Thursday, achieving 31:36. Simon Tate of the home club was their fastest rider with 25:22 but this was surpassed by three from other clubs, the fastest of whom was Louis Julian of DAP CC in 23:34.
The Godric CC Tuesday 10 was cancelled last week because of resurfacing and rain, joining the Diss event that was called off by rain and standing water.
Saturday’s VC Baracchi leisure ride from Tandem-Steve’s Cycles comprised only club members, so they covered a route of just under 20 miles rather quicker than usual. Jodie Lee, one of the club’s new riders, was one of them and she wanted to push on to gain extra fitness.
These rides are designed to introduce club riding and the speed and distance are tailored to meet the needs of any non-club members who take part, so additional riders will be welcome.
Anyone who would like to join in is welcome and should be at Tandem-Steve’s Cycles in the High Street on any Saturday morning at 9.15am. Rides are usually between 15 and 20 miles.
