Nick Partridge was acclaimed Rider of the Year by VC Baracchi members
At the VC Baracchi presentation evening, members voted for the Rider of the Year and Nick Partridge emerged as a clear winner. Josh Peck was the junior Rider of the Year.
Paul Vergette, chairman of Godric CC, made most of the presentations as the club’s guest of honour, while Freda Randall presented the cup in memory of her late husband Ernie.
Partridge also won the club championships at 10 and 20 miles, the vets 10-mile championship, the vets 25-mile scratch and the short course BAR.
Mark Saunders was the club champion at 30 and 50 miles and also the vets champion and veteran scratch champion (the Ernie Randall Cup) at 50 miles.
Paul Dennington won the club BAR and the Athletes’ 10 and Chris Womack won the vets 25-mile championship and the vets BAR.
Billy Girling won the new junior 10-mile championship trophy and Francesca Dixon-Grant won the women’s championships at 10, 25 and 30 miles. Second claim member Jenny Anderson was women’s 50-mile champion
Other awards included John Swanbury and Kate Churchill on the tandem at 10 and 25 miles with club records at these distances and 15 miles, but Swanbury and Ali Banks were the champions at 15 miles with a quicker ride.
Paul Wright was club and veteran road race champion, Steve Dixon-Grant was MTB champion and junior rider Josh Peck won both the road and MTB junior championships.
The Baracchi Trophy for 2-up went to Paul Hayward and Mark Saunders, while Paul Dennington and Keith Wink took the handicap version.
Hill climb champion for the Bernard Dale trophy was Paul Wright and Paul Hayward won the Freewheel trophy.
Patrick Harbord won the Keith Stephens memorial trophy for duathlon and Jodie Lee was awarded the Women’s Rose Bowl for her great start in the sport.
Keith Wink was awarded the Charles Grimmer memorial cup for his contributions to the club organisation, particularly Saturday rides.
The open award for the best woman rider in the May Day 10 was won jointly by Denise Hurren of Team VeloVelocity and Sue Rust of Kettering CC after their dead heat.
The Holmes Cup was duly presented to Gt Yarmouth CC, who beat VCB by three points.
Twenty-three time trial certificates were earned by members, recording all their best performances.
