Kate Churchill rides JT’s Waveney Wander audax

Velo Club Baracchi member John Thompson organised the “Waveney Wander” 104km (65 miles) audax ride from Carlton Colville Community Centre.

He said there were 42 entries, of whom 33 started and there were seven non-finishers due to such problems as excessive punctures and other mechanical problems.

The route was to Earsham Street, Loddon and Heckingham, where there were controls.

VCB rider Kate Churchill completed her ride in five hours and seventeen minutes. One pair of riders, in addition to taking part, rode overnight from London and took the train home afterwards.

It was a nice sunny day but the wind made it tough, with headwinds for the first two-thirds of the ride.

• The club is keen to build up membership by attracting riders of all kinds including those who want to ride socially as well as potential time trial riders and road racers.
